eat ham sandwiches with little gherkin fingers
I miss us.
Would you still do that
thing which always revived
the in-between time
if we were
laughing or just loving
or if it was for the sake
of something else or just for the sake'
it would be quiet and then you'd do it
and color would dust back
onto our laughs
or into them.
You'll name some wonderful song
which will remind
me that there are
figs and rye bread and stilton and ham.
You'll ask, Does anyone remember sandwiches?
If so, do you miss me?
Let us eat, Amen.

I wish I had more time to praise this - all I can muster at the moment is, "Amen" is a provocative conclusion. A very subtle communion-relationship parallel. But the whole poem is very nice, too.
It's like the concept of the "ethical slut" -- always true to you in my fashion -- yet the love is steadfast, everlasting -- and we eliminate nostalgia by typing loving when we mean living and we do meet and we do mean. Love you I.
